Product Description
The Chenxing plastic-coated elevator compensation chain is a welded anchor chain core wrapped in PVC, sized for low- and medium-speed elevators. It cuts the noise of old rope-type chains, costs less than a full plastic chain, and is supplied from about 0.62 kg/m to 5.95 kg/m with usable lengths up to 240 m.
Inside the coating is a welded anchor chain, the same class of chain used for anchoring and hauling work. Outside is a continuous PVC layer that protects the steel, reduces contact noise, and gives the chain a clean finished look in a choice of colors such as blue, red and black. The combination is a practical middle option: it keeps the strength of a steel chain while removing the rattle and the bare-metal look.
What does a compensation chain do in the elevator? It balances the hoist rope weight that changes as the car travels. At the top floor the rope weight concentrates on the counterweight side; at the bottom floor it concentrates on the car side. The chain hangs between the car and the counterweight and cancels that difference as the car moves, so the drive system runs evenly and the ride stays smooth. The principle is the same for every balance chain, and the plastic-coated version is the practical workhorse for low- and medium-speed lifts.

Cover: continuous PVC layer, common colors blue, red and black
Appearance: flat or round section depending on the size class
Noise: much quieter than rope-type chains, though not as silent as a full plastic chain
Cost: moderate, a lower first cost than the all-PVC cable form
Service: replace bare steel chains where appearance and noise matter
Fitting: supplied in coils, cut to length at installation, max usable length per the reference table
The table below is taken from industry published reference values for the WFUZ style plastic-coated series. Every figure is a typical industry reference value with the stated tolerance, and the final specification is confirmed at enquiry.
| Specification | Unit weight (kg/m) +/- 0.2 | Min. bending diameter (mm) | Breaking load (>= kN) | Max. usable length (m) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 | 0.62 | 260 | 9.0 | 180 |
| 6 | 0.89 | 260 | 13.0 | 180 |
| 7 | 1.28 | 260 | 18.0 | 185 |
| 8 | 1.50 | 260 | 23.5 | 190 |
| 9 | 2.03 | 280 | 30.0 | 190 |
| 10 | 2.39 | 280 | 37.0 | 230 |
| 11 | 2.95 | 300 | 44.5 | 230 |
| 12 | 3.33 | 300 | 52.0 | 240 |
| 13 | 3.80 | 320 | 62.23 | 240 |
| 14 | 4.46 | 320 | 70.0 | 240 |
| 16 | 5.95 | 320 | 94.5 | 240 |
The reference number follows the anchor chain size class. Smaller numbers such as 5 and 6 suit lighter lifts and shorter hoistways; larger numbers such as 14 and 16 carry heavier loads.
The max usable length climbs with the size class, from 180 m up to 240 m in the reference table. A coil is cut to the actual hoistway length at installation.
The min bending diameter grows from 260 mm to 320 mm across the range, so the guide sheave radius should be checked against the selected size.
An enhanced filled-core option is available on request: some plastic-coated structures add a PVC filling inside the links, which resists link displacement, improves pressure and twist resistance, reduces movement and cracking risk, and lowers noise further. Industry references place this variant at up to about 3 m/s, and suitability is confirmed at enquiry.
The supporting plastic processing equipment from the same factory is shown on single wall corrugated pipe extrusion line, double wall corrugated pipe extrusion line, plastic drainage pipe machine and HDPE pipe extrusion line solution.
Low and medium speed passenger lifts. The plastic-coated chain is the standard choice for lifts up to about 1.75 to 2 m/s by industry reference. It balances the hoist rope weight quietly enough for passenger service without the cost of an all-PVC cable.
Freight and service lifts. Where the load is heavy and the speed is moderate, the welded anchor chain core provides the strength and the PVC cover protects the steel from the damp and dusty environment of a machine room or pit.
| Application | Elevator type | Why the plastic-coated chain fits |
|---|---|---|
| Passenger elevators | Low and medium speed lifts, up to about 1.75 to 2 m/s | Moderate cost, quiet enough for passenger service |
| Freight elevators | Goods lifts with heavy load | Welded anchor chain core carries the load, PVC protects the steel |
| Medical elevators | Hospital lifts, lower speed ranges | Clean finish and lower noise than bare chains |
| Service and observation lifts | Building maintenance lifts | Coated surface protects the steel in wet or dusty pits |
| Construction elevators | Temporary site lifts | Durable PVC cover over a strong steel core |
| Retrofit projects | Replacement of rope-type chains | Direct noise and ride improvement at moderate cost |
Why it replaces rope-type chains. The old rope-type chain, a steel chain with rope threaded through it, rattles and makes the car shake. Most elevator companies have stopped using it. The plastic-coated chain is the natural upgrade: it keeps the steel strength, removes the rope wear, and dampens the noise with the PVC layer.
How it behaves in service. The chain hangs between the car and the counterweight and runs over the guide sheave at the bottom. The PVC cover keeps the chain quiet against the guide arrangement, and the coating should be checked for integrity during maintenance, especially where the chain bends at the sheave.
The same factory builds the pipes and profiles that carry this coating technology, shown on corrugated pipe extrusion line solution, PPR pipe extrusion line solution, HDPE pipe production line 16-1600 mm and PE PP film recycling washing line.
The plastic-coated chain is supplied to the project specification, and the WFUZ reference range is the starting point.

Installation support is described under the installation FAQ list; machine documentation is collected on the machine documents page; product news is on machine news and product cases.
Quality on a coated chain is about two things: the steel core that carries the load, and the PVC cover that protects it.
Core quality. The welded anchor chain is the load-carrying element, and breaking load is checked against the reference table values, with the final value confirmed at enquiry.
Cover quality. The PVC layer is checked for uniform thickness, full coverage and stable color. A good chain runs quietly and evenly; a poor chain shows cover cracking, thickness variation and unstable strength.
Coating integrity. The cover must survive coiling, hanging and the repeated bend at the guide sheave. The filled-core option adds displacement and twist resistance.
Factory test. Coils are inspected for cover finish, weight consistency and length accuracy before packing.
Documentation. Each supply includes the inspection report and certificate of conformity.
Warranty. One year warranty is provided with the supply.
Installation guidance. Chenxing provides guidance covering relaxation, hanging and guide device alignment.
The installation points that matter. Before hanging, let the coil relax and clear the spiral and twist from winding. Hang one end under the car, run slowly to the top, cut to length, leave the chain hanging statically with the tail more than 1 m above the floor for about 24 hours, then connect the other end. The guide device center line should sit on the same vertical line as the suspension point, and the guide device should be about 1 m above the lowest bend of the chain so the bending radius stays safe. Check again after a few days of running.
Chenxing Machinery was established in 2002 and has worked in plastic processing for more than 20 years, under ISO9001 quality management with CE certification for export supply. The recovery and washing lines around the factory are on washing line machines and washing and recycling production line.
