Product Description

Overview

The Series Strong Crusher (PC Series) is a heavy-duty, low-speed shear-type plastic crushing machine engineered for high-throughput size reduction of rigid plastic pipes, profiles, boards, and sheets. Designed and manufactured by Zhangjiagang Chenxing Machinery Co., Ltd., the PC Series spans six models—PC300, PC400, PC500, PC600, PC800, and PC1000—covering capacity ranges from 100 kg/hr to 800 kg/hr across PVC, PE, PPR, PP, SPC flooring, WPC boards, and PVC sheet materials.

At the heart of the PC Series lies the patented step-shear rotor design: the moving blade holder is arranged in a stepped (cascade) configuration that decomposes a single high-impact crushing force into a progressive sequence of smaller shear forces. This multiplied cutting action dramatically reduces instantaneous shock loads on the drivetrain, extends blade and bearing service life, and achieves lower specific energy consumption compared to conventional straight-rotor designs. The rotor spindle is finished in a single setup on a high-precision jig boring machine, guaranteeing concentricity and perpendicularity errors ≤0.05 mm. The main body is fabricated from thick-wall Q235A structural steel plate, ensuring rigidity under continuous heavy-load operation.

Blades are manufactured from imported high-quality alloy tool steel at HRC 58–62 with a retractable mounting design that allows repeated sharpening cycles, maximizing blade economy over years of production. The PC Series is the go-to solution for plastic pipe manufacturers, WPC/SPC board extrusion lines, injection molding scrap recovery, and centralized recycling operations.

Core Features

  1. Imported Alloy Tool Steel Blades – Long Service Life
Manufactured from imported high-grade alloy tool steel at Rockwell hardness HRC 58–62. The retractable blade-mount design allows shim-based gap adjustment after each sharpening cycle. Each blade can be re-ground multiple times—typically 4 to 6 times—before replacement, dramatically reducing consumable cost per ton processed.

  2. Step-Shear Rotor – Multiplied Cutting Force
The T7A tool steel moving blade holder features a stepped (cascade/shear-decomposition) configuration. Unlike a conventional straight rotor where all blades engage simultaneously and create a single high-impact shock, the step-shear design staggers blade engagement. This progressive cutting action decomposes the impact into smaller consecutive shear events, effectively multiplying the net cutting force while reducing peak instantaneous load on the motor, belts, and bearings.

  3. Coordinate-Bored Spindle – ≤0.05 mm Precision
The rotor spindle and both end faces are finish-machined in a single clamping setup on a high-precision jig boring machine. This ensures concentricity and perpendicularity errors do not exceed 0.05 mm, minimizing rotor runout, reducing vibration, and extending bearing life.

  4. Q235A Thick-Wall Main Body – Structural Rigidity
The crusher main frame is fabricated from thick-wall Q235A high-quality structural steel plate. This robust construction prevents mechanical performance degradation due to long-term continuous operation and impact loading from crushed material.

  5. Full Interchangeability – Precision Manufacturing
Every component is machined against predefined reference datum holes and faces through a two-stage process: rough machining followed by fine finishing. This guarantees full dimensional interchangeability across parts, simplifying maintenance, spare parts ordering, and field service.

  6. T7A Rotor Material – Optimized Hardness-Toughness Balance
The moving blade holder is made from T7A premium tool steel, selected for its ideal combination of hardness (resisting abrasive wear from filler-loaded plastics) and toughness (resisting impact fracture when processing thick-walled pipes or occasional tramp material). The rotor is less prone to cracking or premature wear compared to lower-grade carbon steels.

  7. Adjustable Blade Gap – Adaptable to Different Materials
The clearance between rotating and fixed blades is adjustable. Tighter clearance produces finer, more uniform granulate for direct feeding into extruders. Wider clearance accommodates thick-wall pipe sections and reduces motor load when maximum throughput is prioritized over particle-size uniformity.

  8. Quick-Change Screen – Flexible Output Granule Size
Screen mesh sizes of Φ10, Φ12, and Φ14 mm are available and can be swapped quickly through the hinged or bolted screen cradle at the base of the cutting chamber. Oversized particles recirculate within the chamber until they pass the mesh, ensuring consistent granulate size distribution.

  9. Grade 8.8 Fasteners – Vibration-Resistant Assembly
All major structural connections utilize Grade 8.8 high-strength steel bolts, providing reliable clamping force under sustained vibration and impact loading. This eliminates the loosening issues common with standard-grade fasteners in crushing applications.

  10. SKF/NSK Self-Aligning Roller Bearings – Reliable Under Load
Heavy-duty double-row spherical roller bearings from leading manufacturers absorb combined radial and axial loads with self-aligning capability, forgiving minor shaft deflection and extending mean time between bearing replacements.

The PC600's dual feed opening configuration (250 mm and 420 mm widths) makes it particularly versatile for facilities handling both narrow profiles and wider boards without switching machines.

Production Process

The PC Series Strong Crusher operates on a continuous-feed, closed-loop size-reduction principle:

Step 1 – Feeding
Material (pipes, profiles, boards, or molding scrap) is fed through the top feed hopper into the cutting chamber. The feed opening dimensions are matched to the largest anticipated material cross-section for each model.

Step 2 – Shear Crushing
The motor drives the rotor spindle via a V-belt and pulley transmission. As the rotor spins, the rotating blades (mounted on the stepped T7A blade holder) pass in close clearance with the fixed blades (mounted on the housing). The progressive step-shear engagement cuts the material through a series of consecutive shear events rather than a single impact blow.

Step 3 – Screen Classification
Crushed particles fall by gravity toward the replaceable screen mesh at the bottom of the cutting chamber. Particles smaller than the screen aperture pass through and exit via the discharge chute.

Step 4 – Recirculation of Oversize
Particles larger than the screen opening are retained in the cutting chamber and carried upward by rotor rotation for repeated cutting cycles until they are reduced to the target size. This closed-loop design guarantees output granule size consistency without external classification equipment.

Step 5 – Collection
The finished granulate is collected at the discharge outlet, ready for direct feeding into extruder hoppers, storage silos, or downstream conveying systems.

FAQ

1. How does the step-shear rotor design compare to a traditional straight-blade rotor in terms of cutting efficiency and energy consumption?

The step-shear rotor distributes blade engagement across a progressive cascade sequence: at any given moment, only a subset of blades is actively cutting, whereas a conventional straight rotor sees all blades engage simultaneously. This staggered engagement decomposes a single high-peak impact into multiple smaller shear events. The practical benefits are threefold: (1) peak motor current draw is reduced by 15–25%, allowing a smaller-rated motor to achieve equivalent throughput; (2) instantaneous shock loads on the gearbox/belt drive and bearings are lowered, extending drivetrain component life; and (3) the multiplied net shear force processes thick-wall pipes and profiles with fewer stalls and less material bounce-back. Operators report lower specific energy consumption (kWh/ton) compared to straight-rotor crushers of equivalent chamber size.

2. What blade material is used and how often should blades be sharpened or replaced?

Blades are fabricated from imported alloy tool steel at HRC 58–62. The retractable mounting system allows the operator to insert shims behind each blade to compensate for material removed during sharpening, maintaining correct blade-to-bed-knife clearance. Under typical continuous-duty processing of unfilled PVC/PE pipe, sharpening intervals range from 80 to 150 operating hours; filled or reinforced materials (e.g., glass-fiber SPC or mineral-filled PP) will accelerate wear, reducing intervals to 40–80 hours. Each blade can be re-ground 4–6 times before the cutting edge recedes beyond the usable profile, at which point replacement is recommended. Regular clearance inspection with a feeler gauge (0.2–0.5 mm typical target gap) is the best indicator of sharpening need—increased motor current draw, oversized output particles, or audible impact noise all signal dull blades.

3. How does screen mesh size affect output particle size, and how is the screen changed?

Screen mesh aperture directly determines the maximum granule size exiting the crusher. The PC Series ships with Φ10 mm mesh as standard; Φ12 mm (PC800) and Φ14 mm (PC1000) are also available. Empirical sizing: Φ10 mm mesh yields granules approximately 6–10 mm in longest dimension (suitable for direct extruder feeding); Φ14 mm mesh yields 10–14 mm granulate (suitable for secondary grinding or when feeding a pulverizer downstream). The screen is accessed via a hinged or bolted cradle at the base of the cutting chamber. Replacement on a PC600 typically requires loosening 4–6 bolts, sliding out the old screen, inserting the replacement, and re-tightening—a 10–15 minute procedure for a trained operator. Screen change does not require rotor removal.

4. Are different feed opening designs or blade configurations required when switching between pipes, profiles, and sheets?

The PC Series uses a universal feed hopper geometry that accommodates pipes, profiles, and sheets without modification. However, material form does influence recommended operating practice. Long pipes are best fed axially (end-first) to prevent bridging; wider profiles and boards should be oriented to match the feed opening's long dimension. The PC600 offers two feed opening configurations: 600×250 mm for narrow profiles and 600×420 mm for wider boards/sheets—operators can select the variant best matching their product mix. Blade configuration (number of rotating blades and blade-to-blade spacing) is fixed at manufacture per model. For facilities processing both thick-wall pipe and thin sheet, gap adjustment (via the adjustable fixed-blade mounts) is recommended: tighter clearance for thin sheet to improve cut quality, wider clearance for thick pipe to reduce motor load.

5. How does the ≤0.05 mm spindle concentricity tolerance impact machine longevity and vibration levels?

The rotor spindle is finish-machined on a jig boring machine in a single setup, guaranteeing concentricity between the bearing journals and the blade-mounting surface, and perpendicularity between the spindle axis and both end faces, all within 0.05 mm. This precision directly determines rotor dynamic balance. In practice: a spindle with 0.05 mm runout translates to a rotor assembly imbalance that remains within acceptable limits for industrial crushers operating at 400–600 RPM. Consequences of poor concentricity (>0.15 mm runout) include accelerated SKF/NSK bearing fatigue (pitting on raceways), progressive seal leakage, increased vibration transmitted to the frame and foundation, and eventual fatigue cracking of welds on the main body. The ≤0.05 mm tolerance, combined with factory dynamic balancing of the assembled rotor, ensures vibration levels stay within ISO 1940 G6.3 limits over thousands of operating hours with only routine bearing lubrication.
