Stage 1 — Material Drying

PC is highly hygroscopic. It absorbs atmospheric moisture, and that moisture hydrolyzes the polymer during extrusion: molecular chains break, melt viscosity drops, and surface defects appear in the finished tube. The line therefore begins with a dehumidifying dryer that reduces the moisture content below 0.02%, at 120–130 °C for 4–6 hours, before the pellets are fed.
